Projects
Education
Currently, 17 children and young people who have no parents or cannot live with their parents are receiving training on site.
15 young adults who have completed their training are supported in establishing their independence outside the training centre.
Three adults who are not fully able to work live in their own small house on site and are supported.
Jobs
The head of this department is Besart Bajraktari, who has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Prishtina and has been working at La Cordata for 25 years.
There are currently nine jobs for young adults to start their working lives.
Seven jobs for adults who have no chance on the local labour market.
Two jobs for professionals.
All jobs are filled by people from Kosovo. The average wage is 350 euros, which corresponds to the average wage in Kosovo.
Families
150 families are connected to the La Cordata centre and are regularly visited and supported according to their situation:
- With food and clothing for those in greatest need
- School materials and money for public transport if the journey to school is longer than 30-60′ or dangerous
- Medication and visits to the doctor and occasionally hospitalisation
- Wood stove for heating, water connection, repairs to the house
- Day centre for children of neglected families daily, weekly or sporadically
- Simple therapies for disabled children
All supported families live far below the subsistence level in tiny flats or huts and receive a minimal pension of around 100 euros from the state, which is barely enough for a healthy person, but in no way enough for a family of several people who are also struggling with illness.
